James Warner Smith

Sunday Mornings, from 9-noon!

Join James every Sunday morning from 9am until noon!

James Warner-Smith plays Today’s Best Music, Sunday’s from 9:00 to Noon!  Since he has three last names he shortens it sometimes to JWS.

JWS is Northern Ontario through and through. He was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie. That’s where he got his start in radio in 1977 which makes him almost as old as Ryan Seacrest’s boss Dick Clark! Over the years, he’s been on air all over North Eastern Ontario and Northern Michigan working for EZ Rock, CTV, CBC as well as doing voiceover work for radio stations from Iqaluit to the Turks and Caiccos.

James’ scariest radio job was replacing North Bay broadcasting legend and former Nippising MP Bob Wood on a morning show in Sault Ste. Marie when he moved back to North Bay in the 80′s. His most vivid memory of “Woody” is a rainbow striped one-piece bathing suit that, thankfully, Bob never wore to work!

James went to elementary and secondary school in the Sault and then went on to pick up a Certificate in Business from Laurentian University in Sudbury!

JWS is married to his best friend Alison, an Occupational Therapist from Corner Brook, Newfoundland. They are the proud parents of daughter and Anime nut Jacqueline. James also has three grown children, Chris, a Architectural Technologist in the Sault, Jennifer, a shipping manager and her government IT guy, hubby Tim who both live and work in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and Beth, a kitchen manager at Kelsey’s, who is living and working in Sudbury raising her son Christian.

James loves to sing, he can’t get enough of Star Trek, The Big Bang Theory, 3rd Rock from the Sun and is a long suffering Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
