*FIVE* intelligent questions to ask your personal trainer:
If you’re losing the battle of the bulge, hiring a personal trainer is a great head-start. If you’re careful! Since the field’s gotten so competitive, some trainers worry more about getting your business than
improving your health. So, here are five questions you should ask to make sure you get the most buff for your buck. AOL got these from interviews with working trainers, so they're the real deal straight from the source:
* **“How long before I can do this on my own?” **A good trainer makes you an independent exerciser by teaching you how to use equipment safely. A bad trainer keeps //you// confused so you keep them on the payroll.
* **“Can we work our way up to the hard stuff?” **Some personal trainers will push their clients too hard to show them how out of shape they are - and why they need more personal-training sessions. 37% of health club members are beginners, so personal trainers are largely catering to the unfit. So if you feel your trainer is being too tough, speak up. You should feel stretched to your physical limit – but you shouldn’t feel like you’re going to faint or throw up.
* **“Do you have a group rate?” **By bringing a few friends you can make an arrangement that’s win-win for everyone. For example, instead of a solo $60 workout, bring two friends and everyone pays $20.
* **“Do I get a trial session?” **Since it’s important to feel comfortable, most trainers will let you have one free meeting before you sign up.
* "**What are your career goals?"** Training often attracts people who do it part-time to finance other pursuits, like acting or music. If continuity is important to you, ask about their long-term plans before you commit. Swimsuit season is around the corner- whether it's the one piece for you, the two-piece, or...whatever it may be! Make sure you and your listeners are ready for it with fitness intel from *The John Tesh Radio Show!*
