Many people have to move away from their homes at a moment’s notice over the next few days due to Hurricane Sandy. Daryl Vaillancourt, General Manager of the North Bay and District Humane Society says it’s important to be prepared for an emergency like this. He says a key thing to do is to put together a kit of essential items you’ll need while you’re away from home and that includes items for your pet He says the kit should have emergency numbers, bedding and even toys your pet loves. He points out kennels aren’t always available in emergencies. He says experts in emergency manamgement say you should always have a plan to be prepared for being atleast 72 hours away from your home.
