Evil as brought forward in the Harry Potter books and films is the focus of an event Monday at Nipissing University.

Professor Dr Sarah Winters says Harry Potter loses his parents to murder and thus his life is spent fighting evil. She says the theme of the event is the tensions between historical evil and fantasy evil. She says evil plays a role in the books and films. She says the series of books gets more evil as the plot moves along and the major characters are forced to confront it and it gives us ways of recognizing evil and resist it should it happen in the real world. Dr Winters says she hopes the focus on Potter will attract interest to her event which is being held in the Thomson Reading Room of the Harris Learning Library. The meeting begins at 7:00 pm.
