Hunting season is underway and it will soon be ice fishing season as well. That means many people will be taking their ATV’s out into wooded areas and back roads. The OPP is reminding everyone about being a safe rider. Constable Shawn Fougere with one major reminder, and that’s to always drive sober. Fougere says keep a cell phone and a map of the area on hand as well. He says conducting a pre-ride inspection is also something that should not be overlooked. Fougere also says there are laws in place for ATV riders. You must have at least a valid G2 or M2 licence to ride on roads. Anyone 12 and under must be supervised in off-road areas. And helmets must be worn at all times.
